Kindergarten Teacher
Sarah Cantu comes to TASA from San Antonio ISD where she was a Dual Language (Spanish) Kindergarten teacher. A native Californian, she graduated from California State University, Long Beach in 1983 with a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature, and then enrolled in their Teacher Education Program. A year later, Sarah began her teaching career in Santa Ana, and later, accepted a position in San Juan Capistrano. In 1996, she moved across the country to New Jersey, working in private schools in both Highland Park and Princeton, before relocating to Texas in 2007. Sarah’s teaching certifications include Generalist EC-4 and 4-8 as well as Bilingual Generalist EC-4 and 4-8. Sarah has dedicated her life to meeting the needs of her students and building strong relationships with families. In addition to being a teacher, Sarah is a devoted wife to Joe and “dog mommy” to four precocious dogs! Sarah credits her love for gardening to her mother, her love for reading to her 5th grade teacher, and her love for art to a teaching colleague in New Jersey. Sarah is excited to join the TASA family!

Rabbi D. Nimchinsky, M.Ed
Head of School & Middle School Judaic Studies
Rabbi Nimchinsky joined TASA for the 2016-2017 school year from Pittsburgh, PA where he served as Assistant Principal for grades K-8 at Hillel Academy of Pittsburgh from 2010 to 2016. Prior to that, Rabbi Nimchinsky was the Director of Curriculum & Instruction at the Robert M. Beren Academy in Houston, where he also taught middle and high school Judaic Studies. He has been awarded the Irving L. Samuels Outstanding Teacher Award for Judaic Studies, the Grinspoon-Steinhardt Award for Excellence in Jewish Education, as well as a grant from the AviChai Foundation to develop technological tools to assist in the teaching of Judaic Studies. Rabbi Nimchinsky has developed a strong national reputation among Jewish Day School educators as an excellent school leader. Rabbi Nim (as he is affectionately called) holds a Masters Degree in education and has been teaching adults, children, and teens for over 28 years. He and his wife Rivkey have been blessed with 9 wonderful children ranging in age from seven to twenty-six, to go along with two grandchildren.
